“Adam” and “Eve”

Adam

I felt meteors falling from the shoulders of giants;
Brilliant stars through canopies vast.
In light and flame, they fell for Hell
but they landed here
in the garden of Paradise

Lucid, radiant, vibrant, gone.
Truth lingers, moments, gone.

Thistles carving tender skin,
Crowns of thorns denoting sin,
Voices begging, “Let me in,”
Fallen reaching for their kin.

Valiant won is valiant fought,
Death and war transcend all thought,
Virtues bleeding never clot.
Vices seeding, not forgot.

Rising all from filth and mire,
Bathing then in lakes of fire,
Praying to ascend that spire
Holy lust, misplaced desire.

Harken back to those before us
Thousand voices, single chorus
Lucid, radiant, vibrant, gone.
Truth lingers, moments, gone.

Eden calls, the Serpent answers
Pulling strings to move the dancers
In love, in life, we strive to be
that which, in strife, we never see

Spurned, defeated, broken, weak,
Wings torn off, thrown from the peak,
Hell inherits all the meek;
Turn and turn the other cheek.

By example, darkness leads,
Knitting chaos, sowing seeds.
Selfish hatred lonely breeds
While love, in silence, only bleeds.

Night comes faster deeper sent
Pandemonium’s ascent.
Forty days without repent,
Forty ways without lament.

Fall, like I, in glorious flame
Listen as I cast the blame
Deny thy father, brace for shame
Surely now you know my name

When we fell, our souls remained
Paradise lost and nothing gained
Harken back to those before us
Thousand voices, single chorus
Lucid, radiant, vibrant, gone.
Truth lingers, moments, gone.

Eve

I felt meteors falling from the shoulders of giants;
Brilliant stars from canopies vast.
In light and flame, they fell for Hell
but they landed here
in the garden of Paradise

The stars that gleamed, they fall away,
it not permitted that they stay.

Chaos, darkness his pursuit,
From spiteful act, forbidden fruit,
To everlasting disrepute,
His stay was brief; his seed took root.

Yet shoots remain, growing still,
Exploration, freedom, will.
Gorging selves to fleeting fill
Of knowledge, life, and laughter; thrill.

We live to learn, to fail as Faust;
In wanderlust we wander lost.
Regarding goals but never cost,
We flirt with boundaries never crossed.

In famine, war, in death and plague,
We ride to glory, ever vague.
The stars that gleamed, they fall away,
it not permitted that they stay.

Enlightenment does us evade,
Remembrance: our forgotten glade.
But reason guides and faith remains,
Yet ignorance our conscience feigns.

Perfection hides amid our ranks,
Weaning glory at our flanks,
Existing there, avoiding thanks,
Dodging bullets, shooting blanks.

The sky our limit, stars our prize,
Gazing skyward, eager eyes
Looking for hope amid demise.
Outward glancing from disguise.

Even eyes obscured with mold
Can every beauty true behold.
Our flawed perspective uncontrolled
views thee, for whom the bells have tolled.

To see is to believe; to know.
To venture forth; to brilliance go.
To learn, to live; to shine, to glow.
To look above; to fall below.

Divining truths divine ‘til death,
Waxing holy, final breath.
In famine, war, in death and plague,
We ride to glory, ever vague.
The stars that gleamed, they fall away,
it not permitted that they stay.
